Awareness Program

CUPA continues to conduct programmes on compassion towards animals in schools, colleges and other public forums. Occasional school trips are organized for the release of rehabilitated birds and reptiles. CUPA's volunteers have brought tremendous awareness among children and the programme is very popular.

CUPA conducts a 2 day Animal Welfare Officers' Training Programme to enable people to provide First Aid to injured animals, handle cases of cruelty with knowledge of the laws pertaining to Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (1960). On successful completion of the course, identity cards are issued.

A conference was held for the Public Prosecutors of the city of Bangalore and booklets on Animal Laws were given to the prosecutors. Director of Prosecution, Sri M.R. Devappa spoke on Animals Rights. More than 50 prosecutors were sensitized to the problems faced by the animals.

Newsletter & News paper columns:
The local newspapers, Deccan Herald, Times of India and Indian Express have allotted space to CUPA for a monthly column on animal care and information on wildlife, medical health, hygiene and adoption of dogs.
Our newsletter has circulation of about 600 members and demand for it is increasing.
CUPA's monthly column titled Feathers 'N' Furs in the Deccan Herald was run for almost 5 years. It was highly appreciated by the public and succeeded in disseminating pet care and health related information to the public. Writer Sudha Narayan's informative and sensitive writing has converted many people to the cause of animal protection and care.
